There is mainly two things you need to get started with digital scrapbooking, a computer and some kind of software to create your pages in. A lot of scrappers choose Photoshop Elements as their starting software, and honestly, this program has everything you need to make all kinds of digital photo projects. But there are other options as well. The most important thing is that the program can handle layers, preferably in psd or tiff format. Digital Scrapbook Templates can be a great timesaver when you want to create pages fast. If you choose a special scrapbook program you might be limited to use the files provided by the makers of the software. That is not a problem if you choose a photo editing program like Photoshop Elements, Paintshop Pro or any similar program.

The best advice I can give is to download free trials and test for yourself before you buy anything!

You should be warned though, digital scrapbooking is a very addictive hobby. When you start browsing the internet for digiscrap stuff, you will find a lot of freebies. When you are new to this hobby it is normal to download everything you find of free digiscrap stuff.But after a while you will find your style and your favorite designers. And even if freebies are great, they are not always the best of quality.
